Description

Whether or Not a Call Gets Through is Up to You!

Field Technicians make up the front-line engineering team, which maintains the T-Mobile nationwide cellular network. We need independent problem-solvers with street smarts and tech know-how to work on-site in markets across the country.

OPPORTUNITY- YOUR CHANCE TO SHINE

In a sense, T-Mobile's technical reputation is in the hands of our skilled Field Technicians. Whether or not a call gets through is ultimately up to you! In this role, you'll be able to put your well-honed problem-solving skills to the ultimate test as you work independently, traveling between cell sites in your region to install, troubleshoot and maintain the equipment that facilitates our wireless GSM technology. You'll be able to prioritize your own schedule as you work on your own and collaborate with your peers to get to the root of an array of challenging technical problems. For savvy and motivated techs, this position can also be a great springboard to other challenging technical opportunities in field management, engineering, or design.

TALENT SUITABILITY-ARE YOU THE RIGHT FIT?

The best field technicians are independent self-starters who have the passion and patience to get to the root of a challenging technical problem. They like to work on their own and can handle the high responsibility and accountability that kind of autonomy requires. These folks have a gift for creative problem solving on a technical level and get a lot of satisfaction out of resolving a tough issue on-site. Obviously skilled technically, field techs also have to be able to work well with team members, managers, switch technicians, tower climbers, land owners, and administrative staff-so well-honed communication skills and a good attitude are key.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our tough and talented Field Technicians are asked to:

* Isolate and resolve complex issues at the BTS cell sites with patience and ease

* Conduct routine preventative maintenance to insure equipment is up to par in case of emergency

* Collaborate with equipment vendors, T-Mobile Network Operations Center personnel, and members of the RF Design group

* Play a central role in process optimization-in the form of expansions, work orders, site builds, and integrations

* Provide expert advice and coaching to less experienced technicians

Requirements

* Experience or education equivalent of Associate's degree in communications, navigation, radar, electronics, or computer technology

* Understanding of all components of a GSM network, including T-1 architecture and microwave theory

* Familiarity with RF engineering aspects of cell site construction

* Superb communication skills

* Flexibility to work shifts and on-call as needed

* Clean driving record

* A great attitude

* A healthy dose of problem-solving common sense
